Winning Innings provide the.. winning innings..

Exiles were beaten again on Sunday. Inserted on a sodden Chiswick pitch D, Exiles struggled to 83 all out from 38.3 overs, with only Tither (17) and Wingfield (24) reaching double figures in difficult batting conditions.

Wingfield (3 for 13) struck thrice early, and along with Zienleniewski (8-2-14-0), Exiles kept in the game in the opening overs, before one of the WICC openers opened up and scored 44no to take his side home by 7 wickets, with over 10 overs unused.

Next up is the local derby with Agricola…

Another cancellation…

.. this time against the Nomads. It’d be nice to blame the weather again – which ultimately meant the game would’ve had to have been cancelled anyway – but this time was due to an availability crisis amongst the Exiles. Please can people stop booking holidays in the cricket season – especially all at the same time?!

Next weekend sees a return to Chiswick to face WICC….

Exiles beat drizzle but not Dragons..

Exiles managed to complete their T20 game against the Kai Dragons on Tuesday night – despite extremely gloomy conditions – but were defeated by 6 wickets.

Exiles batted first and scored 125/8 from their 20 with good contributions from all – particularly Lamprecht (21) and debutant Modi (25no).

In reply and with the drizzle at its heaviest, the Exiles bowlers struggled – with the ball becoming a bar of soap; a few wickets were taken, but the Dragons put away the bad balls when they came to win a good game with 7 balls to spare.

Next up is the Nomads…

Exiles come up short again..

Exiles were well beaten by Old Rutlishians at Dundonald Road Rec on Sunday. An Old Ruts opener hit 16 boundaries in a rapid 81 as they amassed 215/6 from 35 overs – despite an impressive 5/38 from Callum Holden – a 15 year old leg-spinner provided to us by the over-subscribed opposition.

In reply the Exiles were once again found wanting – several batsmen got starts, but no-one could provide the substantial innings that was required to set the game up. Exiles were eventually all out for 129 – to lose by 86.

At least there’s a game this Tuesday to make amends – against Kai Dragons in a T20 at Chiswick. Next Sunday sees us playing Clapham Nomads at Joseph Hood Rec in Merton, when hopefully availability might be better!
