Dodging the Dodgers

Exiles unfortunately cancelled their proposed game with Dodgers on Thursday 9 August due to lack of available numbers. Even altering start-time to a more work-friendly 6pm couldn’t tempt the Exiles’ out of their mid-season, rain-induced, cricket hibernation.

However numbers (and weather forecast) for this Sunday against Cypos both look good…

NOTE – next midweek game is against Dodgers at 6pm on Thursday 23 August at Chiswick. Please try to make yourself available for this game if at all possible to avoid another cancellation.

Rain wins again..

More rain. Yawn. This time Surbiton Imperials away was cancelled.

Two games – in theory – for the Exiles this week – Thursday, 2pm start against Dodgers at Chiswick and Sunday, 2pm start against CYPOS (venue to be confirmed.)

Abandon ship..

Exiles’ latest game – at Nursery Road against Merton – fell foul of the weather – as heavy early morning rain caused a delayed start, and a further heavy shower just 5 overs into the match ultimately caused it’s cancellation, despite brighter weather then appearing. However, the opposition had long since disappeared, leaving the Exiles athletes extra-large quantities of tea to further enhance their cricketing fitness…

In the play that was possible, Keith Roberts (6no) and Mike Yates (8no) had taken the Exiles to 16 without loss.

Next up is a trip to Surbiton Imperials, to play at their new ground…

Back to winning ways – part 2

Exiles picked up a much needed victory on Sunday in an excellent, high-scoring, derby game in the Chiswick sun (sun) against Agricola.

Put into bat, Exiles amassed 224 for 7 from their 40 overs – the platform was laid by Keith (39) and John (78, with 5 sixes), before Andy hit 46 off 22 balls to take the Exiles to an above par score.

In response, Marcin (2 for 38), picked up the crucial early wickets of Gauntlett and Thody (2nd ball), but Lamprecht (92) stood firm and threatened the Exiles’ victory hopes; however, the returning Andy (2 for 41) picked up the wickets of Lamprecht and Peters to turn the game back towards the Exiles and Simon (2 for 19) completed excellent bowling analyses to see Agricola restricted to 207 for 8, giving Exiles victory by 17 runs.

Next up is Merton at Nursery Road.
