Mark Bradshaw made no hesitation in choosing to bowl first on a dodgy looking wicket at Richmond.

Matt Cook thoroughly vindicated the decision to field by taking 5 for 18 in an unbroken spell as the Whalers wobbled at 35 for 7. Mark Devlin also bowled well with 2 for 12 and Naren Patel had an astonishing spell of 2 for 0 in 5.5 overs as only some late hitting took the Whalers to 84 all out.

In reply, Quentin Davies battered 14 from four consecutive balls in an attacking 18 to give us a flying start. Mark Bradshaw was the only further wicket to fall for a circumspect 14 before the attacking Jon Taylor (33 not out) and obdurate Wil Scott (9 not out) saw us home to an eight-wicket victory. Man of the match for his best ever figures was Matt Cook.
