Second home game of the season and the Exiles were playing against Wimbledon Corinthians on a very dry pitch at Wandsworth Park.
There was a lot of discussion between Wingfield and captain Shahid whether to choose bat or bowl first, and finally the Exiles won the toss and elected to field first. At the start it looked like it wasn’t a great decision as the opponent openers were making runs quite freely and at the drinks break it looked like Exiles would be chasing a mammoth target.
But a change of bowling did the trick for the Exiles thanks to Yahya who not only sent both openers back to the pavilion but claimed 5/20.
Exiles bowlers Yahya, Hasan and Keith did a great job at the death overs to restrict the opponent to 177 all out.
The start of the second half wasn’t great for Exiles as they lost both openers with the score on 26. Then Bernard joined Shahid to rescue the Exiles innings and they batted exceptionally well with a great partnership of 95 between the two.
When the score was 121 Exiles lost their 3rd wicket and soon afterwards their 4th, before Wingfield join Bernard and played responsibly and chased the target down with 4 and half overs to spare.
Bernard was unlucky to miss on his hundred by 8 runs, remaining not out 92 facing 75 balls.
