For Exiles vs Southern Railway & Kenley it was a nice day for cricket - cloudy with occasional sun in which the groundsmen didn’t put any effort on the pitch, it was very grassy and wet, Exiles as usual won the toss but elected to bowl first.
Southern Railway & Kenley put 205 on the board with loss of 8 wickets. Yahya and Naren were given the responsibility and aiming to pick up some early wickets, from one side Yahya has fired with pace and some loose balls which cost us boundaries but from another end Naren had kept them tight and added 2 more wickets into his Energy Exiles account. It didn’t really work out and their 2nd batting pair continued the momentum, started builing up the partnership and keep hitting boundaries.
After a good spell of 11 overs we had our first bowling change - the captain brought M.Siyar and Phil Ling, but Siyar bowled a couple of expensive overs. The batsmen were very set and captain Shahid replaced Siyar with Bilal. He started well and picked up 2 wickets in his 3rd over and from another end Phil picked up his 2 wickets in his bowling spell.
After a good spell of 12 overs the captain Shahid had to bring another change in the bowling, bringing on Ajmal and Masie, but failing to pick up some wickets for the team after some good overs among them, Ajmal was replaced by Siyar for the depth overs and he picked up 2 wickets.
Southern Railway & Kenley managed a good total of 205 runs after 35 overs.
After a tea break Exiles had to start the innings with opening pair Bilal and the inform player Ajmal who contributed brilliantly in past games, unfortunately, Ajmal lost his wicket for (12) after 3 beautiful boundaries.
The captain Shahid walked into the crease aiming to built up some partnership, but he also lost his wicket for 16 runs just after a magnificent huge six.
After trying hard, Yahya (5) didn't manage to get much and got bowled out. Bilal (36) got caught on point and with help of Andrew (12), M.Siyar (21), Masie (10) and Phil (10) the side could only manage to put 140 on the board for the loss of all 10 wickets in 27.3 overs. Exiles lost by 65 runs.
Today was not Exiles’ day, there were some dropped catches, some misfielding, overthrows and we didn’t do well in the batting format too. We will come back stronger next week for the last game of season 2022 hoping to finish our season with a win.
