For Exiles vs Unabombers it was an amazing day for cricket, partially cloudy. The toss was decided on a mutual decision. Exiles 100% winning record captain Shahid chose to bat.
The opening batting Ajmal (9) and Yahya (15) didn't really get to putting a partnership together. Ajmal (9) was caught after hitting 2 (4s) and a single. Yahya was joined by the man of the match Andrew (50) who did brilliant to keep his wicket to till the 29th over. Unfortunately Yahya (15) was bowled out and the captain Shahid (20) had to take up the stand but he was caught on the boundary line as well, followed by Marcin (0) - he only managed to face 5 balls.
As most of the top order was decimated for just 44 runs and the Exiles were in a real bother. Andrew (50) was joined by Jamil (34). Between the two of them they put up a partnership of 78 runs that helped in giving the Exiles bowlers a decent total to bowl at.
After scoring his 50 Andrew was also caught in the covers region.
A couple of overs later Jamil (34) was given lbw on a bowl that kept really low. The lower order Exiles managed to add only 19 runs to the scoreboard, giving the Exiles bowlers a decent total of 169 runs in the alloted 35 overs to defend.
After having a well needed 25 minutes lunch break, it was the Unabombers turn to bat. Masie and Naren were given the responsibility. Masie's first over 3rd ball was nicked and caught by our keeper John. From the other end Naren bowled really well and also got 1 to go to the keepers gloves. Before the end of their spell they had gotten rid of their top order.
However their best was yet to come as their best batsmen are the middle order. Their batsman no3 scored 50 plus and the captain was dancing down the turf middling everything. That had Exiles a bit worried and the game was almost taken away from us but crucial changes in bowling by our captain brought Phil and Siyar on to bowl, they manged to bowl some really good spells but we weren't able to get wickets as at the start we had.
So after a spell of 7 overs between them we had another change - the captain brought on himself and Yahya. Yahya bowled some real good pace that restricted them to not try any shots and just blocked him around for quick singles. His pace also brought in a few misfields that cost us about 12 runs in extras.
After bowling 4 overs the captain Shahid and the entrie Exiles were desperate for wickets as the game was slipping away. He decided to bring in Ajmal to bowl from his end. Hence the turning point of the game.
In his spell of 4 overs he manged to get 3 wickets including the 2 set batsmen. His second over 2nd ball, the left-hander decided to hit him for a boundary that created a chance but was spilled but before the end of the over he decided to go again but this time was caught very neatly by Marcin on the edge of the circle.
After a few changes in the field Exiles bowlers also manged to get rid of the captain, who was caught by Yahya on the edge of the circle off Ajmal's bowling. The two skiers caught by Marcin and Yahya brought Exiles back into the game.
Exile bowlers were too good for their lower order batting. Siyar was brought back in to bowl, to finish his spell and managed to get 2 wickets.
In the last 6 overs Exiles bowlers managed to defend less than a run a ball, with the regular intervals of wickets taking. Some really excellent spells were bowled that got to ristrict the Unabombers to 151 runs, bringing the Exiles another win - by 18 runs.
