Our next match was against Barnes Occasionals at Barnes Elms Sports Ground and upon winning the toss, Captain Bradshaw elected to bat.

This decision was vindicated as Bradshaw (30), Sammut (39), Amil Patel (36), Davies (60 - his maiden fifty), and Hodgson (47no) racked up the runs to post a total of 230 for 4. This was especially commendable given that Jeff's uncle (a "good bowler" according to Jeff) was bowling for the opposition.

In reply, Hilson (2 for 30) bowled a very fiery opening spell and Barnes were quickly 25 for 4. Despite Andy Wingfield's three wickets, we just couldn't get through the Barnes batting line-up as they closed on 91 for 8 to secure a draw, with one or two dropped catches (especially from Amil) near the end of the innings proving costly.
