On Sunday Exiles returned to an old feature against Merton on a slightly overcast day.

The toss went the way of Merton who elected to field first. K.Roberts and Khan opened the batting and got off to a flyer with Khan scoring a quick 58 off 40 balls before picking out a fielder to end a superb hitting innings.

Merton responded well by getting another 2 wickets in quick succession. Aloysius entered and between him and Roberts stabilised the ship with Roberts ending on a well played 54 and Aloysius unluckily just missing out on his half century with 41. The rest of the Exiles added on a quick fire couple of runs to get the total up to 199 of the allotted 40 overs.

After a great tea the Exiles took to the field and Ahmed and Musakhel struck early with Ahmed ending with 1 and Musakhel with 2 wickets leaving Merton on the back foot, but definitely not out of the game.

A good middle period saw Merton put a bit of pressure on the Exiles bowlers with especially their remaining opening batsmen getting into his stride. The skipper Leuvennink decided to bring himself on for a couple as he normally does and was in good nick eliminating the threatening opener and also finishing off the tail, ending on his best figures yet with 4 wickets for only 1 run in 4 overs bowling out Merton for 122.

Note should be made of an amazing wicket by Exiles' youngest member E Robert who bowled Merton's middle order left handed batsmen around his legs!

A good day out and the Exiles are back to winning ways after a couple of successive losses.
