Exiles were beaten for the 6th time in 7 games by a strong Cheam Sunday eleven.
On losing a critical toss, with the ball seaming everywhere, Exiles - with their best batting line-up of the season - were dismissed for just 64 - with many batsman incredulous as to how they could have got out to such innocuous looking, but very effective-in-the-conditions bowling.
Only Simon Gundry (15) and Will Kent (18) with a partnership of 33 for the 6th wicket looked in any danger of getting the Exiles a sufficient score to bowl at.
Tea was inside as more rain arrived to ensure the pitch was now deadened and that there was absolutely definitely no hope of the ball now swinging. And the Cheam openers played well to all but take their side home - before Will Clephane managed to at least save the Exiles the ignominy of a 10 wicket defeat with an expensively purchased dismissal of one of the openers.
Not a day the Exiles can look back on with much (any) satisfaction, but one more match is on the horizon at Nursery Road and hopefully a fine team performance can lift spirits before the off season.
