Exiles met a youthful "Old" Wimbledonians side who elected to bowl on a bright day.
Keith Roberts and Robin Airey got the Exiles off to a wonderful start putting on a record stand of 117 for the first wicket. Following Roberts' dismissal for 56 (his highest score for the Exiles), Mark Bradshaw (24) and Airey continued to pile on the runs before both were dismissed in quick sucession. Robin made an excellent 68, his maiden half century. Hilson boosted the Exiles score with some typical lusty hitting to his favourite "cow corner" during an undefeated 18 and Mitesh Dhanak contributed a brisk 6 not out as the Exiles closed on 200 for 5.
The Exiles made an excellent start in the field dismissing four early batsmen with Jonty Tarbuck in particularly destructive form. However, the change bowlers were unable to make further inroads into the Old Wimbledonians batting and despite a late blast by Tarbuck, the Exiles were frustrated as Old Wimbledonians held on for the draw at 120 for 7, Jonty Tarbuck finished with incredible figures of 4 for 4 in seven overs.
Man of the match for the Exiles was Robin Airey for his excellent innings. Let's hope that this is the first of many more half centuries to come.
