Exiles won the toss and Bradshaw elected to bat. The Exiles got off to a sedate start with Hilson observing that someone had forgotten to light Keith "The Firework" Roberts. However, Roberts (32) and Bradshaw (25) batted steadily until Bradshaw was caught and bowled. Patel jnr came in and hit a couple of boundaries before playing a loose shot and playing on. Enter Q. Although not hitting as many boundaries as usual (only 7), Q still managed to score a scorching half century at better than a run-a-ball to get the Exiles innings back on track. Meanwhile,The Firework anchored the innings but struggled by his own high standards on his comeback from injury. Wil Scott followed Q and hit a quick 22 before succumbing to the trickery of Price. It should be noted that he was beaten in the flight and not by pace. Andy W and Gundry hit a few lusty blows to take Exiles to 210 off 40 overs.
The Exiles bowled well from the start with Gundry and Chamberlain (1 for 15) particulary impressive. Hilson was unable to open the bowling as he was afraid of "rupturing" his piles before he jetted off to St. Tropez for a week's holiday on his yacht. Hilson(1 for 19) eventually came on to bowl a most sensible spell but was let down by the wicket keeper who dropped an easy chance. He was replaced by Pablo, who bowled a superb spell of left arm spin to take 5 for 14 off 8 overs. The Plough gave the ball plenty of flight and turned it appreciably. Patel jnr managed his first stumping after The Plough had beaten the batsman with a fantastic delivery. British Library ended on 154 for 9, giving the Exiles a fairly comprehensive victory.
Man of the Match: Pablo "The Plough" Palao for his 5 wickets and improved fielding performance.
