On a hot July afternoon, Agricola’s home fixture determined a time limited game, despite the generous offer of a limited over encounter by the visiting captain.  Agricola, with a very strong batting line-up, won the toss and elected to field and the afternoon for Exiles got off to a slow languid start 25-3 off ten overs, spoilt by the exit of the opening batsmen and John Tither.  Wil Scott (15) Barry Whitman (25) and Will Kent (12) engineered three useful partnerships around JPJ’s 44 to hoist the total to 131-7 as tea approached, a total well short of a competitive score.  A somewhat demoralised Agricola returned to the field after tea for a 7 over spell of rather tame bowling which was gently worked ten times to the boundary with some illustrious hitting by Daniel Killaly (33) and Andrew Wingfield (36) and a boundary sweetly struck by Naren to end proceedings on 203.

A target of what ended up as a fraction over a run a ball, kept Agricola interested for at least 25 overs at 6 an over, but the loss of 7 wickets caused them to shut up shop for what otherwise would have been a very close finish.  Agricola closed on 170-7 with the bowlers just doing enough to keep ahead of the game and the opposition in check.   Significant contributions came from Andrew Wingfield 1 for 26 off 9, and Daniel Killaly 1 for 69 off 11 (to add to his 3 catches), and a near-match winning performance from Naren on top form with 4 for 50 off 9.

A challenging game that kept both sides interested and honours about even, although Exiles were more content with the outcome.
