On a blustry and cloudy day, with the risk of showers, the Exiles were asked to Bat. Knowing that Agricola were adept at run chasing the Exiles knew that they needed to build up a big innings to be in contention.
As the rest of the Exiles clambered around the radio to listen to the Ashes, Keith and Jasper went into bat. After 10 overs the exiles were without loss but were only averaging just 2 runs an over. At 24 for 3 Wil entered the fray and set about cranking up the scorecard at a rate of knots! Helped by Mike P, ( 26 ) the 4th wicket partnership of 59 runs put the exiles back in contention. When Wil finally departed after a fine innings of 46, the Exiles with the help from Andy ( 20 ) and Adam ( 13 ) made it to 159 - probably some 25 runs short of a par for the wicket.
Agricola didn't waste any time in chasing down their target. Despite some good bowling from Adam ( 2 for 24 ) and a superb caught and bowled from Andy ( albeit from a full toss! ) the opposition reached victory with some 6 overs to spare.
So another defeat to a deserving Agricola but further lessons to be heeded for the exiles.
MOM - Wil
