The Exiles closed the season with an excellent win in what was probably the most exciting game of the season. Having won the toss, WICC elected to bat. Their flamboyant batting order piled up the runs, scoring over 100 from the first twenty overs. However, thanks to fine bowling from Hilson (2 for 22) and Sam Scott (2 for 28) they lost wickets at regular intervals. Wil Scott and Robin Airey took some heavy punishment from the WICC batsmen in the middle of the innings, conceding 79 runs from nine overs between them. It was left to Chris Bunton (2 for 34) to put the brake on as WICC were dismissed for 204, with two and a half overs remaining.

The Exiles lost an early wicket as Mark Bradshaw was caught at cover for 7. Wil Scott and Keith Roberts then compiled a fine stand of 139, both steadying the ship and increasing the scoring rate when necessary. Wil was finally caught and bowled for 48, his highest score. Jeff Hilson (26 not out) entered to play some booming shots including one huge on-drive for six. The Exiles lost some quick wickets as Roberts (77 - his highest score for the Exiles and a contrasting innings to the previous day), Sam Scott, Amil Patel, and Kristian Armstrong (out first ball, but still above M Dhanak in the batting averages) all perished in an effort to increase the scoring rate. However, a mighty six in the penultimate over from Robin Airey (who, in his own words, was looking to “twat the ball as hard as he could”) calmed the Exiles nerves. With five required from the final over, Jeff Hilson saw the Exiles through to a four wicket victory from the penultimate ball as well as ensuring his place at the top of the batting averages with an Exiles’ record average of over 50.
 
This victory nicely rounded off a season of highs and lows. The Exiles performance in this game made one wonder why they had struggled chasing low totals.
 
Man of the match was Keith Roberts for a fine innings. Keith was obviously still not feeling himself after his illness earlier in the week as he managed to bat quite aggressively and even hit a lofted straight drive.
