The Energy Exiles were faced with a strong Morden side on an unseasonally, but not unwelcome, warm day. This Morden XI bore no resemblance to that the Exiles had faced earlier in the year, being somewhat stronger.
Sam Scott (2 for 31), Naren Patel (1 for 22) , and Gwyn Thomas (1 for 54) bowled very tidily to restrict Morden to 54 for 2 from the first twenty overs. However, the rest of the attack took some heavy punishment as Morden piled on the runs to finish with 214 for 4. The Exiles did not help themselves with some rather ordinary fielding, which saw some catches being dropped. Naren Patel does deserve a mention though, for a good all-round effort in the field which included sliding into some dog excrement in the process of making vital stop.
Mitesh Dhanak was unable to repeat his heroics from earlier in the season as he was caught at slip second ball. Robin Airey (3) and Mark Bradshaw (10) soon followed to leave the Exiles innings in tatters at 18 for 3. Kristian Armstrong played very solidly before he holed out for 20. An off-colour Keith Roberts then played a “dashing” innings of 16 not out in 30 overs, which not only ensured the game was made safe. Keith was assisted in saving the game by innings from Andy Loukes, Sam Scott, Quentin Davies, and Steve Yandel. The Exiles closed on 62 for 7 to finish with very much a losing draw.
Man of the match was Kristian Armstrong, for playing the most fluent innings of the day for the Exiles.
