The Exiles disappointingly lost by five wickets to British Library, a team they had completed the "double" over in 1997.
Wil Scott and Keith Roberts began brightly before Wil chipped a catch to square leg for 9. Mark Bradshaw and Keith Roberts continued steadily before Keith edged to first-slip for 15. John Priestland quickly followed Keith back to the pavilion, recording his first failure of the season, as he lifted the ball to cover, leaving the Exiles in some difficulty at 55 for 3. Amil Patel then showed a straight bat after a shaky start against the Library off-spinner. Amil and Mark Bradshaw put on 72 before Amil was run out for a promising 27 after Bradshaw refused a quick single to square leg. Bradshaw dominated the rest of the Exiles' innings, finishing unbeaten on 71 to complete a good weekend, as the Exiles closed on 155 for 6. This was a total perhaps 15 to 20 runs short of what the Exiles would have expected in fairly favourable batting conditions, the absence of renowned hitters Jeff Hilson and Sam Scott possibly being crucial.
In reply, the Library openers batted very well against some fast, but erratic, bowling from Andrew Thomas. Quentin Davies made the first breakthrough, inducing the opener to play on to his wicket with the total on 60. Library took their total past 100 without losing another wicket and looked extremely ominous. However, Library lost a flurry of four wickets as the game swung back in favour of the Exiles. Alas, it was not to be the Exiles' day as Library's best hitters, Routley and Radia, took advantage of some errors to overtake the Exiles' total with one over to spare.
A poor end to a game in which the Exiles played moderately. Several catches were missed and there were one or two uncharacteristic errors in the ground fielding. It may well be that regular, organised fielding practice is required if this trend continues. One of the most unfortunate incidents of the day was the fact that Keith Roberts broke a finger taking a stunning catch over his shoulder off a no-ball from Amil Patel, and Keith could now miss the rest of the season. This is a wasteful loss of such a key player.
Exiles' man of the match was Mark Bradshaw for his unbeaten innings.
