The Exiles travelled to Chiswick to play Haud Magnum side. Haud Magnum's opening bowler removed Wil Scott, Robin Airey, and Mark Bradshaw in quick succession to leave the Exiles in the mire at 23 for 3.
John Priestland and Kristian Armstrong then put together an excellent stand to revive the Exiles before John was bowled by a crafty slower ball for a very positive 43. Kristian continued to play well, particularly hitting some good drives, before he holed out to cover for 44, if not his highest, surely his best innings for the Exiles. Following the quick dismissal of Steve Yandel, Jeff Hilson in partnership with Andrew Thomas ensured that the Exiles reached the commanding total of 187 for 6. Jeff, in his first game of the season, finished with 52 not out and Andrew made 19. Yet again the feature of the Exiles innings was the fact we have not collapsed following early troubles.
Andrew was rewarded with immediate success when he claimed a wicket with the first ball of the Haud Magnum innings, John Priestland completing the catch behind the stumps. Jeff Hilson then claimed the second wicket when a sharp chance ricocheted from Mark Bradshaw at slip to John Priestland. This brought forth the words "You were bloody lucky" from the batsman, who had earlier been questioning his own umpires' decisions.
Haud Magnum's third wicket pair batted very well to threaten the Exiles score. However, Naren Patel gradually whittled through the Haud Magnum order, taking 4 for 40 in a useful spell. He was assisted by Gwyn Thomas (1 for 33) as Haud Magnum closed on 150 for 7. The Exiles maintained their discipline in the field with Wil Scott outstanding.
Another good performance from the Exiles to continue their unbeaten run. Man of the match was Jeff Hilson for his good 52 and sound bowling performance.
