Mark Bradshaw captained the Exiles against a Tate Gallery side led by Robin Airey. Upon winning the toss, Bradshaw elected to bat on an excellent wicket in very hot conditions at the Civil Service Sports Ground, Chiswick.
The Exiles experienced unexpected early problems against the lively seamers of Magnus Bold, who dismissed three batsmen in his opening spell as the Exiles stuttered to 40 for 3. Luke Butler aided a recovery with a typically hard-hit 20. The real highlight of the innings came with a partnership of over 90 between father and son Naren and Amil Patel. Amil looked out of touch early on, but later in his innings played some really fine shots before he was finally dismissed for 81. Naren on the other hand went for his shots from the start of his innings, persistently advancing down the track to flay the slower bowlers all over the field as he finished unbeaten on 76 not out, also a personal best for the Exiles. Steve Yandel added a useful 11 not out as the innings closed on 242 for 7. Even in such hot conditions, the Tate Gallery fielding did not wilt.
Robin Airey and Andy Loukes made a bright start for the Tate Gallery made a bright start, adding 20 before being dismissed by Luke Butler and Gwyn Thomas respectively. Gwyn took two wickets in two balls to leave the Tate Gallery in dire straits at 37 for 4. A bright 31 from Tin Henbry helped revive the innings. The contrastingly dour Colin Bradshaw and attacking Magnus Bold helped the Tate towards a deserved draw before Bradshaw played across a horrible full-toss from Dave Hawes (with Gwyn Thomas the pick of the bowlers). With Bold blazing a trail for 80 not out, the Tate achieved a creditable draw on 158 for 8, although not before James Airey ran out a batsman with a direct hit from square-leg.
Man of the match for the Exiles was Amil Patel.
