The Exiles did not learn from the previous week’s mistakes as poor batting again let them down in a 25 run defeat by Haud Magnum.

Haud Magnum won the toss and batted, their openers played solidly to add 66 before a brilliant direct throw from the boundary by Sam Scott ran out the dangerous Boyce. The Exiles then bowled and fielded marvellously to as Haud Magnum collapsed to 124 all out. Naren Patel (1 for 21), Chris Bunton (2 for 30), Robin Airey (1 for 11), and Dom Herrington (4 for 9) all took wickets. The fielding, with the exception of one aberration, was excellent.

Wil Scott and Keith Roberts put on a bright 28 for the first wicket, before another collapse as six out of the top seven batsmen got out either playing across straight deliveries or rashly giving catches to the in-field. The innings was in a mess at 58 for 7, but Dominic Herrington (26 not out) and Robin Airey added 30 in a valuable partnership. This was to no avail as the last three wickets fell in quick succession and the innings closed on 99 all out.

The bowling and fielding has been outstanding this year, while the batting can only at best be described as mediocre. More consistent batting is required as the Exiles continue to struggle to chase low totals. Man of the match for a fine all-round performance was Dominic Herrington.
