Exiles beat Whalers in rollercoaster ride..

Exiles beat Whalers by 15 runs in a topsy-turvy game at Chiswick, to pick up their 7th win of 2015.

The toss was won for the first time in 14 (fourteen) matches and Exiles were batting. A partnership of 99 between Keith Roberts (32) and Drew Scott-Dawkins with his maiden club fifty of 74 off 58, saw the Exiles well-placed before John Tither’s quicker 46 not out saw Exiles finish on a competitive 186 for 5 off 35.

Whalers reply started in steady fashion and they’d reached 122 for 2 before a hat-trick from Andy Wingfield (4 for 25, and still far from fully fit!) brought the Exiles back into the game. At 138 for 6, Exiles were well on top before some lower order hitting batting pushed Whalers back into pole, only for a stunning one-handed catch by Bernard Leuvennink to a steepler allowed Tither (2 for 16) to then clinch the final wicket.

A win by 15 runs. WICC at Nursery Road next week.

Record partnership sees Exiles win again..

Exiles picked up their 6th victory of 2015 with a 5 wicket victory over Wimbledon Corinthians.

Despite losing a 13th consecutive toss, Exiles generally restricted Wimbledon well in the field – with Terence Moynihan (3 for 30) the pick, as the Corinthians closed on 212 for 7.

At 35 for 4, Exiles were in trouble in their reply, but a club record 5th wicket partnership of 169 between debutant Matt Taylor (81) and Simon Gundry (82 not out) all but saw the Exiles home.

Another really fine chase. Next up is Whalers at Chiswick.

Ploughman devoured…

Exiles got back to winning ways with a 5 wicket victory over Ploughmans.

Although a 12th successive toss was lost, Exiles generally bowled and fielded well on a lively Dulwich track. Wickets were shared with Ammar Akhtar (2 for 21) and Simon Gundry (2 for 24) the pick, as Ploughmans closed on 204 for 8 off 40, their number 3 making 98.

Marc Simpson (66) was the mainstay of the Exiles reply and supported by John Tither (34) and Bernard Leuvennink (41), Exiles were always ahead of the asking rate, and Gundry (17 not out) ensured the Exiles got home.

A good chase. Next week sees the Exiles back at Nursery Road, oppo as yet to be confirmed.

Exiles beached by Whalers..

Exiles suffered their second successive defeat as they were beaten by 94 runs by Whalers at Nursery Road – Whalers 8th successive victory.

Ammar Akhtar (3 for 55) struck twice as Exiles took early ascendancy, but a long Whalers batting line-up ensured the runs continued to flow, despite the fine efforts of Marcin Zieleniewski (3 for 32); Whalers closed on 206 for 8.

The less said about the Exiles reply the better as they soon slipped to 43 for 7 before a partnership of 48 between Andy Wingfield (44) – who batted with Keith Roberts as a runner throughout – and Terence Moynihan (18) at least got the Exiles within a hundred.

Ploughman at Dulwich next week.
