The Exiles batsmen were on record-breaking form as Nomads were beaten by 107 runs at Raynes Park.

Exiles batted first and amassed a club record 283 for 4 – beating the 280/8 against OMT in 2011 – with Parkinson hitting 141 off 107 balls – the highest individual score by 1, beating Tither’s 140 against Agricola in 2013 – and Leuvennink a 52 ball 81. Their partnership of 191 is Exiles highest for the second wicket.

Despite some aggressive intent from the Nomads batters, Exiles continued to chip away and take wickets with Akhtar (2 for 31) and Ling (2 for 36) both striking twice. Nomads survived the overs however, finishing on 176 for 9 from their 35. A fine victory for the Exiles.

In his 9th season at the club, in his 97th match and 39th innings, Phil Ling finally scored his hundredth run for Energy Exiles, alas it wasn’t enough as Exiles were narrowly beaten by 3 wickets by Beddington in a well-fought encounter at Dundonald Rec.

Exiles batted first and despite some at times generous bowling were only able to muster 154 all out – with over 5 overs unused, with stand-in opener Zieleniewski (37) top-scoring.

All Exiles bowlers bowled well in a reply and at 86 for 6 – despite the best efforts of Turncoat Steve – Exiles appeared well in the contest. But Beddington had two first-teamers from their Surrey Premier League side coming in at 7 and 8 and despite a fine effort the breakthrough didn’t come till too late.

Beddington were home by 3 wickets with 13 balls to spare. A good game, but Exiles need a win. Nomads up next week.

Exiles lost for the 5th successive game – well beaten by 150 runs by Old Rutlishians at Dundonald Rec.

On losing the toss, Old Ruts flew out of the blocks, though a steady spell of swing bowling by Phil Ling (2 for 32) at least attempted to keep the away sides batting in check. Despite the rest of the bowling attacks best efforts, the runs kept coming and Old Ruts were able to amass 237 for 6 off their 35, despite Andy Wingfield’s 3 for 30.

Once birthday boy Keith Roberts was dismissed second ball, the Exiles batting was in trouble and, in truth, never got going. Only Kent, Wingfield and Moynihan reached double figures as Exiles subsided to 87 all out.

A disappointing performance, but a strong performance from Old Ruts. And hopefully Craig Williams can handle his beer better next time.

A disappointing performance from the Exiles saw them well beaten by Surbiton Imperials at Colets Sports club.

Exiles lost the toss and were bowling and inroads were few and far between, though a fine spell by Akhtar (3 for 23) kept the home side in check. Surbiton were still able to reach 209 for 8 from their 40, which barely seemed par.

However with the pitch becoming lower and slower, and in the face of accurate Surbiton bowling, the Exiles chase never really got going. Only Williams (38) of the top order significantly troubled the scorers as Exiles slumped to 117 for 9, before a last wicket partnership of 50 between skipper Plume (34) and Akhtar (18no) at least reduced the margin of defeat.

Better things are hoped from the side again Old Ruts at Dundonald Rec next week.
