Exiles produced an excellent fightback to beat Unabombers by 37 runs at Abbey Rec.

On winning the toss, Exiles slipped to 63 for 7 before a key partnership of 69 between Wingfield (40) and Zieleniewski (33) led the Exiles recovery to 147 for 9 off their 35 overs.

Unabombers reply started well and they’d reached 68 for 1 before a triple wicket maiden from Wingfield (4 for 24) started to turn the tide, which was followed up by 2 wickets apiece from Naren Patel and Quereshi as Exiles won by 37 runs.

Next up is a first ever trip to take on Ickenham.

Exiles belied their recent form to provide an excellent performance in emphatically beating Ploughmans by 7 wickets in Dulwich.

Having lost the toss, the Exiles initially restricted the Ploughmans batters extremely well on a wet but drying track, as the home side crawled to 35 for 1 off 20 at drinks, Ashik having taken the key wicket of Lonnen early on.

When the shots came afterwards, Faisal Musakhel (5 for 15) was the chief beneficiary with accurate bowling to go through the home side, supported by playing-in-jeans Hussain Quereshi (3 for 5).

If chasing a low total was to provide any nerves for the Exiles, Quereshi quickly ensured 17 for 6 was not realised again, smashing 4 sixes on his way to 49 not out as the Exiles cantered home in just 12 overs.

A really good morale-boosting win for the side, onto Unabombers at Abbey Rec next week.

Exiles were well beaten by an impressive Whalers side at Chiswick.

On winning the toss, Exiles were in the field and saw the opposition openers pile on 147 for the first wicket before a first senior strike by Joseph (son of Mark) Bradshaw with a cleverly disguised slower ball broke through.

Hussain Quereshi (3 for 34) then took 2 quick wickets at the other end and with junior Bradshaw soon picking up a second wicket as well, Whalers teetered at 155 for 4.

However another 50 partnership – this time for the 5th wicket – restored the home sides’ ascendancy as they finished on an imposing 208 for 5.

Exiles reply never really got going, despite 64 for the second wicket between Keith Roberts and Quereshi (44), with only Amil Patel with a brisk 27 contributing significantly thereafter as Exiles were well restricted to 137 for 9.

Exiles recovered from 17 for 6 to beat Agricola by 2 wickets in a classic at DunDonald Rec.

A fine bowling performance by the Exiles restricted Agricola to 120 all out on a seamer-friendly deck – with 3 wickets for Wingfield and Ling and 2 for Iqbal. Also notable was a quite stunning catch by Shane Kruger running back to take a steepler over his shoulder in the deep.

Exiles looked to have thrown their victory chances away by losing 6 quick wickets – with variable bounce a key protagonist. However skipper Plume (39) again provided a fine gritty backbone to the Exiles innings and after some good hits by Santimon, it was a superb 46 not out from Jibran Ahmed that took the Exiles home.

A first win of the season at the third time of asking. Whalers at Chiswick next week.
