Exiles were beaten by 65 runs by Southern Railway & Kenley at King Georges Playing Fields on Sunday.

After winning the toss, and following a minutes silence for the Queen, Exiles looked to make inroads on choosing to bowl first on a very lush looking surface. Naren picked up a couple early – both bowled of course – but Kenley always batted aggressively and continued to attack, eventually posting 205 for 8 off 35 overs, with 2 wickets for Siyar, Phil and Bilal, as the pitch played better than it looked.

Exiles looked in the chase at 90 for 3, but the losses in quick succession of Bilal (36) and Andy seemingly ended the match as a contest, despite 21 from Siyar, as the pitch started showing increasing signs of variable bounce. Exiles all out for 140.

So a slightly disappointing performance after so many good ones. Final game is at Haydon’s Road next Sunday against King’s Road CC.

Exiles beat new opposition Reigate Priory by 4 wickets to pick up their 12th win of 2022.

Winning a good toss, Exiles, unusually for this season, elected to bowl on a very underprepared looking Nursery Road pitch.

After a steady start by the openers, it was Yahya (3 for 23), Siyar (3 for 18) and Ajmal (2 for 24) who did most of the damage in restricting Reigate to 122 for 9 off their 35 overs.

Exiles got off to an excellent start in reply with a 68 run opening stand between Keith (33) and Ajmal (25), before a flurry of wickets. But captain Shahid (24no) stood firm and took the side home by 4 wickets with nearly 5 overs left.

Another really good win. 2 games left this season, starting with Southern Railway & Kenley at King George’s Playing Fields next Sunday.

Energy Exiles CC celebrated it’s 30th anniversary with an excellent club game at Haydon’s Road Rec.

Exiles “Keith” batted first and amassed 146 for 9 from their 30 overs – with 34no from Andy, and double figure contributions from Shahid, Yahya, Jasper, Luke and Azhar. Two wickets each for Alex (that of his father and brother!!), Naren (of course!) and Jonny.

Exiles “Naren” responded with 143 for 6, narrowly falling short. At 25 for 4 they looked well behind the rate, but 30no from Ajmal, 23 from Bilal and 32no from Simon set up the chase and a late 23no from Mark and 15no from Naren (of course?) took their side very close.

A brilliant game, one of the closest club games we’ve had, genuinely competed throughout.

Exiles have 3 games left for 2022 – Sheen Park at Nursery Road next week.

Exiles picked up another win – this time by 18 runs in a tight tussle with the Unabombers.

After a negotiated toss resulting in Exiles batting first (due partially to late arrivals), Exiles lost a few early wickets and were teetering at 63 for 4 before an important restorative partnership of 78 between Andy (50) and Jamil (34) took the side to safer waters and despite a late flurry of wickets, 169 for 9 looked a defendable total on a wearing and very sandy track.

Unabombers lost 3 early wickets – all caught by John Crossland behind the stumps – to slip to 19 for 3 with 2 wickets for Masie and 1 for Naren. But TK, Tim Holmes and Simon Begley proved harder to crack and took their side to 119 for 4 before the golden arm of Ajmal (3 for 20) intervened and broke the back of the Unabombers batting as they were all out of the last ball for 151.

An excellent 18 run win. Club game – which promises to be lively – next week!
