After four recent heavy defeats, Exiles at least put up a better performance in a five wicket loss to Unabombers at Raynes Park.

The toss was an interesting one - the pitch was a bit patchy looking and would surely seam a bit, but the weather was generally good and the outfield short, so batting first - which Exiles would've done on winning the toss - seemed a reasonable option. Unabombers won the toss and inserted the Exiles in any case. And their reading of conditions proved correct!

The bowling was pacy and accurate with some swing and a fair amount of variable bounce, and Exiles found runs hard to come by, with Keith battling to 27 as the side stumbled to 65 for 5 in the 26th over.

Andy joined Aman - one of the four Exiles debutants on the day along with Chai, Ritesh and Liam - at the crease and the two ran and swung hard and rode their luck (Andy in particular!) in putting on 61 in the final 9 and half overs to at least get Exiles up to 126 and something to bowl at.

Exiles bowled and fielded generally well, but conditions had now started to ease and Unabombers opener Alex Barnes batted extremely well for an unbeaten 70 to take his side home 5 down with 8 overs to go. Second top scorer was less than 20 and without his innings Exiles may well have got a result but it wasn't to be.

5 different bowlers picked up a wicket and Jibran took an excellent catch over his shoulder off Ritesh. With a few more runs this could've been a very close game. Well done to the Unabombers however.
