On Sunday the Exiles marched onto the field against Wimbledon Utd after quite some time off for most due to last year's season being disrupted.

The toss was lost and we were put into the field. The bowling was opened by visitor Satish and the trusty Naren and things looked good with both picking up a wicket in their spells while keeping the run rate down. Simon and Phil followed it up with Phil bagging two wickets on consecutive deliveries with the second definitely helped on by a classic park pitch unplayable creeper.

Wimbledon continued to build and in the end scored a well played 210 for 8 off their 40 with best bowling figures coming from the likes of Simon Gundry with 2 for 19 off the allotted 8 overs.

Exiles opened the batting with Bernard and Keith hoping to get a good start to lay some kind of foundation for a tough chase, but unfortunately Wimbledon got their wicket back with a creeper bowling Bernard in the 3rd over. Satish and Johnny followed quite soon after both being bowled without adding to the score and suddenly the Exiles were truly on the back foot.

Simon and Keith tried to consolidate until another nasty bounce got rid of Simon. Andy held the fort with Keith for a while, but after edging one to the keeper the writing was on the wall for the Exiles who ended on 131 for 8.

Special note has to go to our man of the match Keith who carried his bat with 54 not out.

Next up Southern Railway and Kenley at Nursery Road. A new fixture and hopefully we can build on our performance.
