On an overcast day at Nursery Road, with menacing looking clouds lurking in background, the Exiles suffered their first "official" defeat of the season to Clapham Nomads.

Exiles batted first and there was some tight bowling with a touch of movement to start with from KK and Sami which restricted the flow of runs. The openers will reasonably quickly removed but a strong 3rd wicket partnership left the Exiles reasonably placed at 87 for 2. Bilal Musakhel batted circumspectly to start with before playing some stylish shots for his 45 runs against some excellent bowling from Zia and Abbas.

Unfortunately, following Bilal's dismissal the Exiles suffered a collapse to find themselves at 95 for 7 before an Andy Wingfield rescue act. He took the sensible approach of seeing off Todorov before cashing in against the other bowling and ended up on 43 not out. Particular mention should go to Phil Ling who occupied the crease well to enable Andy to take the total to 180 all out.

In reality, a total of 180 was slightly below par and the Exiles would need to remove the top Nomads batsmen with not too many on the board to stand a chance of pulling off victory. Bilal bowled well to take a couple of early wickets and with the aid of some comical running between the wickets, the Exiles were able to restrict the Nomads to 48 for 3.

However, Zia (64 n.o.) and Hassan (76 n.o.) were "in the mood" with Zia in particular hitting some brutal blows. The Nomad got home comfortably losing only 3 wickets and without the need to call on the services of Todorov and Crossland.

Yet another enjoyable game against the Nomads but unfortunately not as close as merits this classic fixture.
