Exiles in dramatic tie…

Exiles tied their match with new opposition Wibbandune at Cottenham Park on Sunday, in a topsy-turvy encounter.

Exiles chose to bat first and in damp conditions on a sticky pitch were soon in big trouble at 33 for 5. But a superb partnership of 96 between the ever-dependable Hasan with a well-made 53 and a robust 42 from 30 balls from Siyar – continuing his recent good form with the bat – recovered the Exiles innings. Ishaq also fired a rapid 40 but Exiles lost wickets at the other end and were all out for 188 – 3 and a half overs short of batting their full allocation.

Wibbandune started their reply well – reaching 72 for 1 – before Siyar and Ishaq picked up 3 wickets each to put Exiles ahead. With a further wicket for Sami and 2 run-outs Wibbandune needed 16 off the last over and a thick edge off the final ball raced to the boundary, only just evading the field. A tied match was the result.

Kenley next week.

Hasan steers the Exiles ship…

A fine 70 from 74 balls from Hasan Khan lead Exiles to a 26 run win over Unabombers on Sunday.

Exiles batted first and Hasan – in partnership of 95 with Yahya (44) set the Exiles an excellent platform and a final total of 176 for 7 certainly seemed competitive.

Masie (3 for 33) struck twice in his first over in reply and the Exiles were on top – with Siyar then taking 4 wickets. The Unabombers stayed in the game thanks to a fifty from their keeper but 2 wickets from Phil and another from the returning Masie ensured Exiles got the win.

Next weeks game is at Cottenham Park against opposition to be confirmed.

Exiles win thriller in Dulwich…

Exiles pulled off a fine run chase to secure a 3 wicket win against Ploughmans in Dulwich.

Exiles elected to bowl first, but Ploughmans built steadily with one of the openers striking a fine 94. Sami picked up a couple of wickets and Siyar 3 for 40 as Ploughmans closed on 193 for 6 from their 40 overs.

Exiles wobbled early in reply and had reached 81 for 5 before a superb partnership of 91 between the ever-dependable Hasan with 66 not out and Siyar – who knew!? – with 57 put the Exiles back in the game. And despite Siyar finally falling as well as Sami, it was the calm head of Hasan that took the Exiles over the line, with just over 2 overs left.

An excellent win from a losing position! Next up is Unabombers at Hayden’s Road.

Yahya inspires Millfields win..

A sublime all round performance from Yahya – with 81 runs and 3 wickets lead the Exiles to an excellent 63 run victory over Millfields in Battersea Park.

On winning the toss, Exiles batted first on a green top and had to withstand an excellent opening burst from E Cooper for Millfields, but did well to reach 41 before Ajmal was caught. Shahid followed soon after for 25 but this brought together Hasan and Yahya for an fine partnership of 105 before Yahya was caught in the deep.

A late flourish from Ishaq – with 22 off 13 balls – ensured momentum wasn’t lost and Exiles closed on an above par 194 for 5.

Millfields started well with the number 2 striking 64, but Exiles kept chipping away and following 2 wickets for Siyar and Ajmal, Yahya completed his excellent all round display with 2 wickets late on to finish with 3 for 23. The victory was completed with a first Exiles wicket in over a year for Andy bowling spin.

Back to Dulwich next week for a rematch with Ploughmans.
