Exiles caught in Whalers net…

Exiles were beaten by 7 wickets by Whalers at Nursery Road on Sunday.

Batting first the Exiles looked to be stumbling to a very below par score at 93 for 9, but late arriving debutant Ajmal Safi smashed a rapid 54 not out in a club record 58 run partnership with Naren (2 not out)  for the 10th wicket to give Exiles something to bowl at as they reached 151 for 9.

Whalers always looked in control of the chase however, despite 2 wickets for Evan, as they raced home with 12 overs to spare.

Wimbledon United at Dundonald Rec is scheduled next Sunday.

Fifties for Jonny and Andy take Exiles home..

Exiles pulled off a fine 5 wicket win against Merton at Nursery Road on Sunday.

The Merton innings was bizarre – their opener Puttaganti smashed a superb 121, but no other batter in their side made double figures (second highest score was 9!) – question for Wisden as to whether there’s ever been an innings like that before!?

Once Puttaganti was out the Merton innings subsided from 163 for 5 to 164 all out, over 5 overs short of using their allocation which was perhaps crucial. Naren finishing with an excellent 4 for 20 and Shahid chipping in with 3 for 24.

Exiles reply got off to a poor start as the pacy Egan removed Bernard and Amil cheaply but a fine maiden Exiles fifty for Jonny rebuilt the innings and Andy (50no) took it home with 9 balls left, accompanied by a limping Jibran.

A really good win in probably the best game of the season so far. Back to Nursery Road next week to take on Whalers.
