Full marks to Spencer for excellent chase…

Exiles were beaten by 7 wickets by Spencer at Field View on Sunday.

Batting first, Exiles compiled a solid 224 for 6 from their 40 overs, with contributions right throughout the order, anchored by the top-scoring Will Kent with 59 and accelerated by the likes of Dominic Hodgson (45 off 39) and John Tither (30 off 22).

But this total was made to look vastly unsubstantial by a powerful opposition top 4 as the first 15 overs were taken for 8 an over. It was a fine effort by Simon Gundry (3 for 25) that attempted to bring the Exiles back into the game, but, as they were well ahead of the required rate, Spencer were able to cruise home with 22 balls remaining.

A rematch with Clapham Nomads is next up at Nursery Road.
