Exiles heavily beaten
Exiles were well beaten by Merton on Sunday. After a sedate start by reaching 62 for 3 at halfway, Merton went run crazy, scoring 120 runs in the last 10 overs to reach 231 for 7 off their 40, with their debutant no. 6 smashing 90 in no time at all.
In reply, Exiles lost regular wickets and, in truth, were never in the hunt. However, after 30 overs, Merton had been 111 for 5, whilst Exiles were 115 for 6, but the Exiles batsmen decided to bat out for a draw 96 run defeat. To score just 20 runs in the last 10 overs (without losing a wicket) against part-time bowlers is absolutely criminal.
Here’s hoping for much better away at OMT next Sunday.
9 man Exiles just miss out..
9 man Exiles were narrowly beaten by Whalers on Sunday. John Tither (65) and Will Kent (49) set the Exiles on their way to 173/5 from 35 overs; however, after an excellent spell by Naren Patel of 7-1-16-2 and with Whalers well behind the required rate, a belligerent 63 from 44 balls from the opposition number 4 turned the game, allowing Whalers to squeeze home by 2 wickets, with 2 balls remaining.
Next up is a trip to John Innes Rec. to play Merton.
