Agricola caught out..

A superb fielding performance – featuring 8 catches – led the Exiles to the first win of 2020 – by 9 wickets over Agricola at Chiswick.

On losing the toss, Exiles were in the field, but found the pitch offering slightly more than expected. However despite an early wicket, Agricola started well thanks to Mike Almond (56) and Adam Norledge (44).

Having reached 133 for 3, Agricola looked well set but Exiles picked up the remaining wickets quickly – as Alex Roberts got Almond and Justin Lamprecht in the same over and Andy Wingfield returned 3 for 14. Exiles catching was excellent as all 8 chances offered were taken, albeit 2 from sub fielders kindly provided by Agricola.

164 seemed well within reach. And Exiles backed up an excellent fielding performance with an equally efficient batting performance – as Keith Roberts anchored with 55 not out, Amil Patel returned 47 and Will Smith showed much promise in his 39 not out.

After a tough first game, things are looking up for the Exiles in this shortened season. Unabombers at Raynes Park next week.
