Exiles were ultimately beaten by 63 runs by Spencer at Field View on the 2017 season opener, despite a vey decent showing from the side for much of the game.
Openers Andy Wingfield (3 for 17 – including his 300th career Exiles wicket) and skipper Chris Plume (3 for 43) reduced Spencer to 60 for 6 and with 2 wickets then following for Shane Kruger (2 for 34) Exiles had their hosts at 93 for 8, but a hard hit 71 off 51 balls from Spencers no 8 saw the home side reach 175 all out.
It was also a pleasing sight to see debutant Alex Roberts (1 for 30) take a wicket on senior cricket debut as he bowled in tandem with his Dad.
In reply Exiles reached 78 for 1 with Keith Roberts (30) and Dominic Hodgson (25) threatening big scores before wickets started falling and Exiles falling to 112 all out.
So a defeat, but one to certainly take encouragement from.
