An astonishing last ball six from Terence Moynihan saw Exiles to a 3 wicket win over Old Rutlishians in a dramatic game at Poplar Road on Sunday.
Old Ruts amassed 243 for 5 from their 40 overs as the Exiles bowlers struggled for rhythm and consistency and the green looking pitch proved more batsman-friendly than might’ve been expected.
Chris Plume (76) initially flew out of the blocks with 30 of the first 38 Exiles runs before anchoring the innings after the Exiles lost a couple of quick wickets.
Karamvir Mangat (63) impressed on debut with a hard-hit fifty, followed by Bernard Leuvennink with 32 from 19, but Exiles seemed to be losing momentum as wickets fell at seemingly key moments leaving 11 required from the last over.
Moynihan needed 10 off 3, and then 6 off 1 – and got them as a length ball was despatched over long on (just!). An incredible chase from the Exiles..
Next up is WICC at DunDonald Rec.
