Hodgson thwarts Imperials attack…

Dominic Hodgson crashed 75 not out off 49 balls, with 15 fours, as Exiles got back to winning ways with a surprisingly comfortable win against an admittedly under-strength Surbiton Imperials.

Chris Plume, captain for the day, made the perhaps optimistic choice to bowl first on winning the toss, but this decision was soon vindicated as Surbiton were bowled out for only 119, with the wickets shared by Andy Wingfield (2 for 20), Terence Moynihan (3 for 27), Bernard Leuvennink (3 for 10) and Steve Parkinson (1 for 4).

Exiles – inevitably – had a quick stumble in response slipping to 16 for 2, before a quickfire partnership of 104 between Hodgson and Will Kent (24 not out) saw the Exiles home.

Next up are Merton at Nursery Road.
