Late Plume not enough for Exiles…

Exiles were narrowly beaten by 21 runs by Winning Innings on Sunday despite a fine all-round performance by Chris Plume – who scored 26 runs with the bat and a seasons best 4 for 33 with the ball.

All Exiles bowlers bowled well, with Tim Storey (2 for 19) picking up 2 wickets in an over before Plume took over with a fine spell of off-spin. Exiles could be well pleased with their first half efforts in restricting a strong opposition batting side to 158/9 off 35.

But – as seems often these days – Exiles were let down by their batting and soon found themselves in trouble at 90 for 8, but a fine rear-guard partnership of 46 between Will Kent (34) and Plume got the Exiles within striking distance, before both fell in trying to keep up with the required rate.

A better performance than recent weeks from the Exiles and hopefully the season can yet finish with a couple more wins…
